New steakhouse opening soon in downtown Suwanee

Downtown Suwanee is getting a new steakhouse.

Wife-and-husband team Jennifer and Rob Taranto will open Bottles & Bones at 400 Buford Hwy. NE in February. The owners have plucked a couple of Atlanta restaurant industry veterans to lead the restaurant.

Ryan Smith, formerly of Watershed on Peachtree and Food 101 restaurant group (and not the Ryan Smith that helms the kitchen at Staplehouse), is on board as executive chef. Smith's menu will include aged prime steaks, seafood and an extensive list of appetizers that includes house-cured charcuterie. Side dishes such as sweet potato souffle and roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon jam vinaigrette will be available as well.

Bottles and Bones will serve nightly specials. A prime rib dinner will be on offer Sunday and Monday nights, and a dry-aged porterhouse steak for two will be available Friday and Saturday nights.

Emile Blau is in as general manager. Blau's decades of experience include time at a couple of iconic Atlanta steakhouses. He previously was managing partner at Bone's and general manager at Chops.

As the name indicates, ownership is not overlooking the beverage side of the business. Bottles & Bones will feature "a robust bar program with an approachable wine list and great cocktails," a spokesperson told Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Jennifer Taranto and Lawrenceville-based Z-Space Design partnered on the restaurant's decor, implementing a warmer color pallet than what would be found at a stereotypically dark steakhouse. Atlanta artist Steve Penley was commissioned to create three "Americana-style" paintings specifically for Bottles & Bones.

The Bottles & Bones dining room will sit 165. A 40-seat lounge, which includes a 16-seat bar and baby grand piano, will regularly host live music.
